Hun droom is bijzonder mystiek. De volgende dag zal niets tussen de twee nog hetzelfde zijn.
“Orpheus’ Song is only 70 minutes long, but it never seems rushed. In fact, it actually lingers on the storyline almost lovingly, and gives us more than most longer films. Philipp wins a week-long trip to Greece, and takes his seemingly reluctant friend Enis along. The two are gym-buddies, but of course, we know there’s more to it than that. Without going into the plot elements, this is a story about the enchantment of love, and how it weaves its spell. In Greece, in the high hills, the two friends meet a strange, friendly guy named Hercules who tells them some vague tales about fruit and water nymphs and “things that can happen”. When Philipp and Enis awake in the morning, Hercules is gone. The film transitions into a very sensuous story, with one of the most incredibly erotic love scenes ever. That’s all you need to know about the plot.
The acting is very good, and the actors convince us that they believe in the story. The director has everything under control, and the skill he exudes is multi-leveled…tight when it needs to be, and free and earthy when needed. The writing is amazing. To be able to put so much information into such a short story, and for it to ring natural and true is a great gift. The action teases, frustrates and intrigues us, but it also surprises us. The photography captures the steamy, humid heat of Greece, and the hazy air can almost be felt as the guys go on their search for an ancient village. The soundtrack is minimal, which works well with the isolated look and feel of being lost in the hills…especially when we know that “something is going to happen.” Highly recommended, and extremely well-crafted.” – Jared A.
