Beschrijving
Marcel Mulder has created all of these photographs using his own body in the compositions and has made them entirely by himself.
He uses a relatively simple self-timing camera, occasionally on a tripod, or more often, steadying the camera with just a stone or other nearby found object.
His composition, balance, lighting, timing, planning and chance are key ingredients, as well as his skill, patience and editing. But just as important are his knowledge of previous and contemporary works in this genre as well as major historical precedents.
By infusing and incorporating his spirit, soul, mood and above all, his honesty, into his technical workflow, he manages to craft the photograph into an image of much more than the sum of its elements. It becomes an expression of his quest, exploring the world around him, expressing his feelings and curiosity, while building connections between people and places.
